Trend universe update guide

In this article we will answer your questions regarding the trend universe update and explain how you can run the update.

How can I run the entire update?

The next time you visit the trend universe section, you will be asked whether you want to run the entire update. If you confirm this, the updates of all affected trends will be applied automatically.

If you prefer to run it later, you can also do so in the trend universe section. Click on “TRENDONE trend universe” in the navigation panel. Now click on the triple dot menu on the top right and select “Activate all new trends (publication year 2023)”. Please note that activating this will deactivate all ancestors of a trend, as only one trend from an evolutionary series can be active at a time. Outdated trends remain untouched in your work environments (workspaces, trend radars, innovation fields, innovation projects). If necessary, you can manually exchange outdated trends with their successors.

Can I update only a few selected macro-trends?

If desired, individual trends of the new trend universe can be activated. To do so, open the admin area and click on “TRENDONE trend universe” in the navigation panel. Now select the tab macro-trends and activate the desired trends with the respective switch. Please note that by activating a new trend all of its ancestors will be deactivated, because only one trend from an evolutionary series can be active at a time.

What happens to my “old” trends after the update?

Your “old” trends will remain in all workspaces, trend radars, innovation fields & innovation projects. You can still access the trends from there. However, you will not be able to find deactivated trends in the trend finder. Besides, upcoming micro-trends will no longer be contextualized with outdated macro-trends.

What happens to work environments that contain outdated trends after the update?

All existing trend radars, innovation fields, innovation projects and workspaces remain unchanged and the deactivated trends remain in there. In trend radars all your evaluations and links to innovation fields and projects will persist as well. If you are using search agents for outdated macro-trends they will stop working until you exchange them with their updated versions as we will not contextualize new micro-trends with outdated macro-trends. To help you locate outdated macro-trends in the Trendmanager, affected entities will be labeled with a red info sign.
