What’s changing in the new trenduniverse? (Update April 2021)

The revision of the TRENDONE trenduniverse addresses the most current developments and ensures that your work with our trend data remains up-to-date. The following figure gives you an overview of the Mega-Trends – some new ones have been identified, for some the focus has changed and all existing ones have been updated and further developed.

In addition, the 17 Mega-Trends include 109 Macro-Trends. We have updated and expanded the existing Macro-Trends. In addition, some updated Macro-Trends get a new title or a Macro-Trend is based on the influence of several Macro-Trends from the 2018 universe. In these cases, it is a good idea to activate the new trend versions and deactivate the old versions.

Manage the new trenduniverse in your Trendmanager account

As a customer of the Trendmanager we provide you with all trends from the new trenduniverse in the administration area. You always have access to the old and new trends in the menu item “TRENDONE Trenduniverse”. As a manager or admin you can manage all trends yourself. Decide which trends you want to activate or deactivate.

In the administration area you can decide yourself which trends should be activated.

The administration area offers various functions:

  • Mega- and Macro-Trends are listed in two tabs. You can filter by active and inactive trends.
  • You are shown which trends belong to the old and new universe by the year. Likewise, you will be shown if a trend is linked to elements in the tool. (Trend radars, innovation fields and innovation projects).
  • You can activate and deactivate trends individually here. Please note that the associated Mega-Trend must always be active in order to activate a Macro-Trend.
  • You can also make our TRENDONE trends editable with the copy function, available for each individual trend. The copy of the trend is added directly under the “Company Trends” menu item and is available for you to edit.
  • You have the option to activate or deactivate entire trenduniverses with the Trippledot menu.

Impact in the tool

  • You can find all the trends you have activated in your Trendmanager account.
  • You also have the option of activating the 2018 version of a trend and the new 2021 version in parallel.
  • Trends that no longer remain in the updated trenduniverse (e.g. Chatbots) will still be available to you, however they will no longer be enriched with new Micro-Trends from TRENDONE. Of course, all Macro-Trends including their ratings in your trend radars as well as links to innovation fields and innovation projects will remain. These Macro-Trends are marked with an indication of inactivity.
  • Only the active trends are displayed in the Trendfinder.
  • If you decide to activate the new version of a trend, the posts – if any – will be transferred to the updated trend version. This way you keep all your information and insights on your relevant topics bundled at a glance.
  • Only the trends from the 2021 trenduniverse are updated with new content or new Micro-Trends.

The new Macro-Trend format

In the course of the trenduniverse update, we have also further developed our Macro-Trend format. The new Macro-Trend format offers even more background knowledge and analysis.

  • Detailed description text makes the developments of the trend more tangible.
  • Drivers show external circumstances that reinforce the trend.
  • Challenges & Opportunities for selected industries support the interpretation of the trend for the own business.
  • Similar Macro-Trends show which developments you should also keep an eye on.

Also your Company-Macro-Trends are now expandable with this information. We have extended the Company-Macro-Trend creation mask with these fields. If the fields are not filled in, they will not be displayed in the tool.
